''We are declaring a mass hunger strike today,'' UNM Chairperson Nika Melia said at the Rustaveli rally site.
Melia stressed that the hunger strike will continue before ex-pres. Mikheil Saakashvili is freed.
''The more people go on a hunger strike and the more we consolidate, the sooner will the result be achieved. We must show the whole world we cannot tolerate the third president being held hostage,'' the UNM head declared.
Ex-pres. Mikheil Saakashvili's supporters are staging a rally outside the parliament on Rustaveli Ave.
Traffic flow has been suspended on Rustaveli avenue after the United National Movement organized a rally.
