The Minister of Defense Irakli Gharibashvili was interrogated in connection with the so-called David Gareja case. The information was confirmed by the public relations service of the General Prosecutor's Office of Georgia.

"As it is known to the public, the investigation was based on information received from the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, according to which experts of the State Border Delimitation-Demarcation Commission under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been ignoring relevant documents and bypassing them were making harmful decisions for Georgia.

According to the same information, the citizen of Georgia found in other countries and handed over to the Ministry of Defense important archival material, including topographic maps, which were presented to the investigation. The Minister of Defense was questioned about this," the prosecutor's office said.

On October 7, the Prosecutor's Office arrested Iveri Melashvili, the head of the Service of Georgian State Border Delimitation, Demarcation, and Border Relations of the Department of Neighboring Countries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, and Natalia Ilichova, Chief Inspector of the Land Border Defense Department of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, on charges of actions directed towards transferring part of Georgia.
