Prosecutor's office demands Melashvili and Ilychova to be released on bail

"The prosecutor's office is appealing to the court to replace the detention of Iveri Melashvili and Natalia Ilychova with bail," the prosecutor of the case made a statement a few minutes ago.

Iveri Melashvili and Natalia Ilychova will wait for the completion of the substantive hearing of the case and the announcement of the final verdict at liberty.

"A rather high standard confirms the blame of the accused, and we have all seen their confession. As the investigation into their actions in all directions is complete, we are appealing to the court today because, at this stage, we no longer consider it appropriate to use the most severe preventive measures," the prosecutor's office said.

On October 7, the Prosecutor's Office arrested Iveri Melashvili, The Head of the Service of Georgian State Border Delimitation, Demarcation, and Border Relations of the Department of Neighboring Countries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, and Natalia Ilychova, the Chief Inspector of the Land Border Defense Department of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, on charges of transferring part of Georgia.
