Prosecutorial Council selected Irakli Shotadze's candidacy for the Prosecutor General's Office of Georgia. The results of the secret voting became known just recently.

Irakli Shotadze received 11 out of 12 votes.

The Prosecutorial Council will present a selected candidate to the Georgian parliament, which will elect the prosecutor-general. If the candidate fails to receive the required number of parliamentary votes, the Prosecutorial Council will choose new candidates following the law.

According to Mamuka Mdinaradze, the leader of the parliamentary majority, if the Prosecutorial Council nominates Irakli Shotadze to the parliament, the majority will support him.

The Prosecutorial Council selected four candidates for the position yesterday.

The list contains Valerian Vacharadze, Dariko Tordia, Irakli Shotadze, and Sopio Shengelia.

Giorgi Badashvili now serves as an interim prosecutor general.
