"Irakli Kobakhidze will replace Bidzina Ivanishvili as the chairperson of the Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia," Kakha Kaladze, the party's secretary-general and the mayor of the capital, said at a briefing at the Georgian Dream office.
According to him, the party will gather on Saturday. Kobakhidze will be approved at the mentioned meeting, with the new composition of the political council.
"Today, the next meeting of the party's political council was held, where we discussed issues related to the party's congress. First of all, we would like to inform you that the party meeting will be held on Saturday, January 16 and it will be attended by about 400 delegates from all over the country; we will elect a new chairperson and a renewed composition of the party's political council. According to the decision of the Political Council, Irakli Kobakhidze will be nominated for the post of the party chairperson," Kaladze said.
Bidzina Ivanishvili is leaving the post of the chairperson and is leaving politics.
