State Minister: Destructive steps continue on the part of the occupation regime

The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, Tea Akhvlediani, responded to the 9-year imprisonment of Irakli Bebua sentenced by the de facto regime of occupied Abkhazia.

According to her, the illegal punishment of Irakli Bebua is aimed at intimidating the Georgian population living on the spot and aggravating their unbearable living conditions.

"It is unacceptable and unfortunate that today when we are all fighting the pandemic with the entire world, destructive steps by the occupation regime continue. Of course, the issue of illegal detention of Georgian citizens, as well as the issue of illegal detention of Irakli Bebua, will be one of the main topics of discussion during the international talks scheduled for December 10-11 in Geneva, and we hope that our efforts in cooperation with international partners will soon pay off. As a result, Irakli Bebua, like our other citizens, will return to his family and be released from illegal detention," Tea Akhvlediani said.

Irakli Bebua, who was illegally detained in occupied Abkhazia, was sentenced to 9 years in prison.
