"Secretary Pompeo and Prime Minister Gakharia discussed the importance of free, fair, and transparent parliamentary elections and the role of an independent judiciary in a democracy. The Secretary-General called on Georgia to continue to take active measures to defeat the pandemic and strengthen cybersecurity. Secretary Pompeo also reaffirmed the United States' unwavering support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russian occupation," the State Department said in a statement.

The official visit of the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo lasted for two days.

On November 18, he held official meetings with the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, as well as with the Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia, and other government officials.

Pompeo met with the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II.

A silent demonstration in Tbilisi took place due to the visit of the Secretary of State.

Pompeo held his last meeting with representatives of the civil society, after which the Secretary of State concluded his visit to Georgia.
