Volodymyr Zelensky: Georgia calling ambassador for consultations is a mistake

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to the Georgian government's decision to call an ambassador for consultations, calling it a mistake.

"We have excellent relations with the Georgian people. We will not call our ambassador for consultations, because the relationship between our countries goes beyond any government. I consider this a mistake," Zelensky said.

The President also expressed hope that after the consultations, the parties will understand that the state personnel policy applies only to him and his citizens.

"No one should be offended. It is our decision and our domestic policy. Saakashvili is a citizen of Ukraine and has a Ukrainian passport. I appointed him as the Chairperson of the executive committee of Ukraine's National Council for Reforms," Zelensky said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to summon the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Ukraine after it became clear that the President of Ukraine appointed Mikheil Saakashvili as the Chairperson of the executive committee of Ukraine's National Council for Reforms.
