The match at Fukushima Azuma Baseball Stadium is led by the Australian and Japanese women's softball teams.
The opening ceremony of the Olympics will be held on July 23. Traditionally, some competitions are held before the official start of games. For the first time since 1996, football has not opened an Olympic competition program.
Softball was part of the program of the Olympics from 1996 to 2008. It will not be represented at next summer's 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
