The winners of the Tokyo Olympics will put medals themselves, National Public Radio reports.
According to Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, winners will receive the awards and put their own medals.
In order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, a person who holds the medal plate will be wearing disinfected gloves.
The winners will stand on the podium wearing masks.
The Tokyo Olympics were supposed to be held last year, but international sports competitions were postponed for a year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The games will be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021.
